the Devils today called up D Tyler Eckford, the reigning AHL Player of the Week, from their Lowell farm and sent down D Cory Murphy.

Eckford, 24, is in his second pro season out of Alaska-Fairbanks, and was drafted 217th overall in 2004 by New Jersey. He had two goals and seven assists in three games to earn the weekly AHL honor. He is 5-12-17 in 18 games for Lowell this season.

Murphy makes his second trip to Lowell this year, signed as a free agent after a 5-10-15, 25-game stint with Tampa last season. Murphy was 2-1-3 in 11 games with New Jersey this season.
