The Devils said Thursday they will be without defenseman Andy Greene for four weeks after a non-displaced toe fracture was discovered during tests today.
Greene has been hampered since Nov. 26 by the previously undiagnosed injury, which kept him out Nov. 30.
The 29-year-old passed up leaving New Jersey as an unrestricted free agent last summer, receiving a raise from $750,000 to $3 million for each of four years. He spent the early part of this season paired with rookie Adam Larsson and they shared the team lead among defensemen with nine points apiece.
In Greene’s absence against the Senators at Prudential Center, Mark Fraser played his third game of the season.
