Attorneys for Devils captain Patrik Elias are asking $2 million in damages in a suit filed in Bergen County, N.J., against Elias’ former agents – claiming fraud, negligent misrepresentation, breach of fiduciary responsibility and agent malpractice.

Mark Gandler and Todd Diamond are named in the civil action as Elias’ former agents. Gandler, who represents several top NHLers, including Alexei Yashin, denied the charges.

“Parick Elias’ lawsuit against me, my partner and my company is completely without merit,” he said. “We will contest it vigorously and expect a favorable resolution.

“It appears this is a misguided attempt to evade paying fees after years of [service].”

Elias went from one agent to Gandler and Diamond, and then to another agent, signing a $42 million, seven-year deal with the Devils last summer.
