She’s back.

Denna Laing, the professional women’s hockey player who sustained a severe spinal injury during the Outdoor Women’s Classic at Gillette Stadium on Dec. 31, tweeted a heartening video Monday night.

“Hello. I’m back,” said the 24-year-old, who remains at Massachusetts General Hospital.

The Princeton graduate, who plays for the Boston Pride, tumbled into the boards after stepping on a stick and was taken off the ice on a stretcher. Laing recently underwent a tracheostomy that helped her breathe and allowed her to speak for the first time since the frightening injury.

Laing’s parents recently issued a statement saying she “has limited movement of her arms and no feeling in her legs.”

On Sunday, Laing’s family also shared a powerful Facebook post in her words: “For a long time I have been looking for a new challenge. Even though I was not expecting it to be this, here we go.”

The optimistic Massachusetts native also shared her memories of the momentous day, saying it felt like Christmas.

“This is a moment to remember for Women’s Hockey,” Sunday’s post said of the New Year’s Eve game that was the NHL’s first-ever Outdoor Women’s Classic.

“We made history that day and I would never take those moments back.”
