Henrik Lundqvist has a new shade of red, white and blue.
The former Rangers goaltender showed off his new Capitals pads last week and gave a first look at his new goalie mask on social media on Thursday. Lundqvist, who had the final year of his contract bought out by the Rangers in September, signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Capitals on Oct. 9 to end his 15-year tenure in New York.
“Final pieces, it’s all coming together. #ALLCAPS,” the 38-year-old Lundqvist wrote.
Lundqvist’s new red, white and blue helmet features the Capitol building and two eagles, one of which has its mouth open. There are three stars on each side and his new number, 35, is printed on the chin.
The mask was painted by David Gunnarsson, who shared details of the creation process on Instagram.
