ISLANDERS VET DONE FOR YEAR
Mike Sillinger’s year is over – and perhaps his career, as well. The Islanders announced yesterday that the 37-year-old center had hip resurfacing surgery on Monday and will miss the remainder of the season.
He played just seven games and scored two goals in 2008-09 while recovering from the microfracture hip surgery he underwent last year. The 18-year vet has 240 goals in his career.
