Following Jacob Trouba’s hit Wednesday night that resulted in Jujhar Khaira being stretchered off the ice, the Blackhawks announced that Khaira was released from the hospital on Wednesday morning.
In a statement released by the team, physician Dr. Michael Terry said Khaira, 27, underwent “extensive testing” prior to his release.
“Despite the significant injury, his prognosis is excellent and we expect a full recovery,” Terry said. “At this point, it is too early to put a timeline on return to play.”

Jujhar Khaira was released from the hospital Wednesday morning, the Blackhawks said. AP“It looked like [Trouba] stepped up and the guy had his head down real bad,” Rangers coach Gerard Gallant said after the 6-2 win. “You just hate to see somebody get hit that hurt. In my eyes, it was all fairly clear. But he had his head down, looking at the puck, and Troubs stepped in.
“I didn’t feel too good and I know our player didn’t feel too good, either.”
