Mats Zuccarello’s second game out of a Rangers uniform won’t be for a while.
The former Rangers star will be sidelined for a month after
“It just helps it to heal faster. It’s nothing major,” general manager Jim Nill told DallasStars.com. “It was a very clean break and the surgery makes sure it stays in place so it heals faster.”
Zuccarello, a Rangers mainstay since coming to North America for the 2010-11 season, was dealt to the Stars over the weekend, a move that sent plenty of emotion through the Blueshirts’ locker room.
In his first non-Rangers NHL game, the Norwegian added a goal and an assist for Dallas, but left late in the second period after blocking a shot with his arm. The injury will keep him out of the lineup against his former team when the Rangers visit on March 5.
