TORONTO — Former NHL star Mark Messier has been introduced as general manager of Canada’s team for the 2010 world championship.
Mark Messier was officially introduced Wednesday during a news conference at the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Messier is as a special assistant to New York Rangers president Glen Sather.
Fellow Hall of Famers Steve Yzerman and Wayne Gretzky have built Canadian teams in recent years.
Canada has won back-to-back silver medals at the world championship. It last won gold in 2007.
