With two picks in the first round of NHL Draft 2020, the Rangers have plenty of options to choose from, including the consensus No. 1 prospect:
Rangers option for No. 1 Pick
Alexis Lafreniere
Age: 18
Shoots: Left
Position: Left wing
Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 192 lbs
From: Saint-Eustache, Quebec
Widely considered to be a game-changer and player to build around, Lafreniere is a team-first leader who is a gifted and versatile scorer. He is thought to be NHL-ready now and has drawn comparisons to Florida’s Jonathan Huberdeau, but Lafreniere says he models his game after Chicago’s Patrick Kane. Lafreniere is a big-game player that has proven he can rise to the occasion.

Brendan Brisson
Age: 18
Shoots: Left
Position: Center/Left wing
Height: 6-foot
Weight: 185 lbs
From: Manhattan Beach, Calif.
College: University of Michigan commit.
With 59 points (24 goals, 35 assists) in 45 games for the USCHL’s Chicago Steel this season, Brisson (right) was named rookie of the year and to the league’s all-rookie team and first All-Star team. Brisson has a very apparent upside that could be reached quickly with the right development. Paired with stellar ice vision that works well while quarterbacking the power play, Brisson is another enticing playmaker option.
Hendrix Lapierre
Age: 18
Shoots: Left
Position: Center
Height: 6-foot
Weight: 181 lbs
From: Gatineau, Quebec
Having been diagnosed with three concussions in 10 months, Lapierre may fall in the draft out of concerns for his long-term durability. Known as an effective puck-carrier who can utilize his speed, Lapierre is one of the top playmakers available in the draft.
Mavrik Bourque
Age: 18
Shoots: Right
Position: Center
Height: 5-foot-11
Weight: 185 lbs
From: Plessisville, Quebec
With an uncanny ability to lure defenders out of position, Bourque’s hockey IQ is considered to be one of the best in the draft. Although slightly undersized, Bourque makes contributions both offensively and defensively and is known to always be two or three steps ahead of the play.

Age: 18
Shoots: Left
Position: Left wing
Height: 5-foot-11
Weight: 159 lbs
From: Lethbridge, Alberta
Known for his high-energy style, Greig is seemingly always in the middle of the action. He brings a balanced blend of skill and grit and is considered to be a relentless pest. The kind of player who will get under his opponent’s skin and then sprinkle in a two-point performance to put a cherry on top.
Seth Jarvis
Age: 18
Shoots: Right
Position: Right wing
Height: 5-foot-10
Weight: 172 lbs
From: Winnipeg, Manitoba
With an arsenal of creative moves, Jarvis has a knack for coming out of tight spaces with control of the puck. He plays a constant attacking style that is complemented by his fast skating ability and quick release.
Justin Barron
Age: 18
Shoots: Right
Position: Defense
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 198 lbs
From: Halifax, Nova Scotia
The brother of Rangers’ 2017 174th-overall pick Morgan Barron, the younger Barron emulates his brother’s size and stature. Due to a blood-clot issue this season, Barron was unable to increase his draft value and concerns over his offensive abilities came to light. A mobile blueliner, Barron still has an impressive low shot from the point that can be easily tipped.
Jacob Perreault
Age: 18
Shoots: Right
Position: Right wing
Height: 5-foot-11
Weight: 198 lbs
From: Montreal, Quebec
Known as a pure sniper, Perrault is considered to have one of the best shots in the draft. Can find the back of the net from anywhere on the ice and transfer any pass thrown his way into a dangerous shot on goal.
Dylan Holloway
Age: 19
Shoots: Left
Position: Center/Wing
Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 203 lbs
From: Calgary, Alberta
A consistent force on the backcheck who can pickpocket puck-carriers and deliver timely hits, Holloway is a disruptive player with plenty of size. He’s a strong east-west skater who will sacrifice his body for the play.
Connor Zary
Age: 19
Shoots: Left
Position: Center
Height: 6-foot
Weight: 181 lbs
From: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
A player who seemingly elevates his game year after year through hard work and dedication, Zary is a coach’s dream. He has a relatively well-rounded game with no particular standout skill, but his unparalleled work ethic and character make Zary an enticing option.
