Marchand trade return revealed

By Michael Blinn

According to ESPN, the Bruins will receive a 2027 second-round draft pick for trading captain Brad Marchand to the Panther that conveys into a 2028 first-round pick if certain conditions are met in the shocking deadline deal.

The 37-year-old is currently week-to-week with an upper body injury, but should fit it nicely with the gritty Panthers when he's able to return to the lineup.

Blackhawks get Joe Veleno from Red Wings

By Rob Reese

Getting some much needed help for Connor Bedard?

The Blackhawks are sending goalie Petr Mrazek and forward Craig Smith to the Red Wings in exchange for former first-round pick Joe Veleno.

Veleno hasn't hit his offensive stride yet -- but might be given a bigger opportunity in a rebuilding Chicago team.

Full look at Hurricanes' moves after trading Mikko Rantanen

By Rob Reese

Carolina's acquistion of Mikko Rantanen was a bit of a gamble with it not being certain he'd sign an extension with them.

Now, the trade and extension has been agreed to that sends Rantanen to Dallas, with a fresh eight-year $12 million AAV contract to boot.

In total -- Carolina parted with Rantanen, Martin Necas, Jack Drury and 2025 second-round pick and a 2026 fourth-round pick.

In exchange they brought in Logan Stankoven, Taylor Hall and two first-round picks.

When it gets done, from Carolina's perspective:

OUT:
Martin Necas
Jack Drury
2025 2nd Round Pick
2026 4th Round Pick

IN:
Logan Stankoven
Taylor Hall
2026 1st Round Pick
2027 1st Round Pick
(plus smaller pieces)

In between, 13 games of Mikko Rantanen. Thoughts?

Mikko Rantanen, Stars might agree to extension in latest twist

By Rob Reese

Anyone enjoying the rollercoaster ride?

It looks like Mikko Rantanen may agree to an extension that would send him to Dallas afterall.

TSN's Darren Dreger is now reporting that Rantanen may agree to a contract extension in the range of $12 million AAV to head to the Stars.

An extensive back and forth about to end with the Dallas Stars acquiring and extending Mikko Rantanen. Not done, but I believe he’s settling for the $12 mil per as we’ve discussed.
