Rangers announce minor-league deal

The Rangers acquired forward Aidan Thompson from the Blackhawks in exchange for Derrick Pouliot.

Thompson was Chicago's third-round pick in 2022 and had 15 points (six goals, nine assists) for Rockford in the AHL this season.

Islanders trade for Blues captain Brayden Schenn

The Islanders made a splash in the last hour before the trade deadline.

After rumors over the last few days centered heavily on Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou, the Islanders ended up acquiring a different St. Louis Blue: Brayden Schenn. Jonathan Drouin, a 2026 first-round pick (Colorado), a third rounder and Marcus Gidlof head the other way.

The 34-year-old Schenn, who wore the “C” in St. Louis, is under contract through 2028 at $6.5 million per year.

He had a 15-team no-trade clause, but waived it to join the Islanders, per Frank Seravalli.

Maple Leafs, Avalanche working on deal?

Frank Seravalli is reporting that the Avalanche and Maple Leafs are working on a Bobby McMann trade.

We listed McMann as a name in the rumor mill on Friday morning. McMann has 19 goals this season and scored 20 last year.

Sounds like #GoAvsGo and #LeafsForever engaged again on Bobby McMann.

We’ll see where it goes.

Canadiens have checked in on Nazem Kadri: rumor

NHL Insider David Pagnotta is reporting that the Canadiens have checked in on Nazem Kadri. He mentioned Patrik Laine as a possibility in the deal.

As just mentioned on the @DailyFaceoff Panel with the boys, told the Canadiens have circled back with the Flames recently on Nazem Kadri. Talks continue. Some chatter Patrik Laine could be in play here if this gets to the finish line.
