The thrilling revival of future Hall of Fame goaltender Jonathan Quick made this an easy decision for the Rangers.

So before the anticipated flurry of trade deadline week, president and general manager Chris Drury looked a bit further down the line and signed the 38-year-old netminder to a one-year extension with a cap hit of $1.275 million on Sunday.

This was a contract befitting of Quick, his established veteran status and what he’s brought to the Rangers, on and off the ice.

It includes a $775,000 salary, $500,000 signing bonus, a 20-team no-trade clause and a $25,000 performance bonus if he posts a .915 save percentage and reaches 20 starts.

And with that, the Blueshirts locked in their goaltending tandem for at least one more season with No. 1 Igor Shesterkin signed through 2024-25.

“It’s a good feeling knowing I’ll be back,” Quick told reporters after an optional practice Sunday in Tarrytown. “We’re in the middle of a season, so the focus is here and now. We got Florida coming in [on Monday], they’re a great team.”

Quick has excelled in the role of backup but has never looked like one since the start of the regular season.

After an eventful 2022-23 campaign filled with disappointing play, two trades and a third Stanley Cup, Quick signed a one-year deal with a salary of $825,000 to play for the Rangers, the team he grew up rooting for.

A bumpy preseason only prepared Rangers fans for the wild ride that would be watching — and actively rooting on — the resurgence of the goaltender who crushed their dreams wearing a Kings jersey in the 2014 Stanley Cup Final.

Quick has morphed into a more refined version of his vintage self under the Rangers goaltending guru Benoit Allaire.

The athleticism is still unparalleled and just as entertaining as it was when he helped deliver two Cups to Los Angeles.

It prompted Drury to engage in early negotiations, which Quick said came together over a week of some back-and-forth.

Having won four of his last five starts, while allowing two or fewer goals in three of them, Quick ranks tied for sixth in goals-against average (2.45) and sixth in save percentage (.916) among NHL goalies with 20 or more games this season.

His 13-5-2 record has tied Dave Kerr, Lorne Chabot and Shesterkin for the most wins through 20 career games with the Rangers.

The signing sets Quick up to further climb the list of all-time winningest goalies in NHL history. He is currently one victory away from tying Dominik Hasek for 15th most at 389.

It all but guarantees Quick will surpass Ryan Miller (391) for the most wins among American-born netminders while wearing a Rangers jersey.

“I think it’s fantastic,” head coach Peter Laviolette said. “This is well-deserved. In the room, and his game on the ice, have been outstanding. He brings so much of a winning culture and that character that he brings inside of our room. But his play on the ice has been excellent, too. There was a point where Shesty wasn’t available to us and we needed somebody to step up, he was awesome. It shouldn’t have surprised anybody.

“But you come to a new team and you get a guy to jump in like that and carry the ball the way he did. He’s had a fantastic year for us and gets rewarded with a contract extension. I know that everyone is thrilled that he’s coming back next year.”
