Want to see the Rangers try to advance to the Stanley Cup final for the second consecutive season? It’s going to cost you — big time.
According to data from ticket aggregator TiqIQ, the current “get in” price — meaning the minimum one must pay in order to attend the game — at the Garden for Friday’s Game 7 was $620, as of late Wednesday afternoon.
By comparison, last season’s Western Conference final Game 7 between the Blackhawks and Kings at the United Center in Chicago had a relatively paltry get-in price of $281.
As usually is the case when there is a high-demand sporting event, scalpers are in for a treat, as the face value for some tickets is as low as $153 — meaning some scalpers could be in for a profit of nearly $500.
While the “get in” price was $620, the average price for a Game 7 ticket was $1,332. The most expensive seat was “Rinkside 6 Row AA,” which was going for more than $19,200.
For the second straight series, the Rangers will be forced to wait an extra day before contesting Game 7 of their playoff series at Madison Square Garden.
And just like it was earlier this month, a musician is to blame.
With Billy Joel set to perform Thursday night at the Garden, Game 7 was pushed to Friday.
Bette Midler, who was behind the Rangers’ second-round delay, is performing at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Friday night, pushing a Blackhawks-Ducks potential Game 7 to Saturday.
