The Rangers will not be the winners of the Metropolitan Division, but they are cemented in the second spot. Friday’s regular-season finale against the Capitals does not hold much significance and the Blueshirts will certainly be resting many key players. They will now await their fate: Washington Capitals or Pittsburgh Penguins. Who presents the better matchup for the Rangers to move on to the second round?

That’s the $64,000 question on the latest episode of the “Up In The Blue Seats” podcast with Ron Duguay and Mollie Walker. The Post’s Larry Brooks is back to break down the playoff road ahead for the Rangers. We also answer questions from Post Sports+ members. Stay tuned for a modified “Up In The Blue Seats” podcast schedule once the first-round playoff schedule is released.

Up In The Blue Seats Podcast with Ron, Mollie & Jake

  • REST UP: Once Rangers lost to the Hurricanes Tuesday, which clinched the division for Carolina, it became about about rest. The Rangers can’t afford to lose anyone to an injury in a meaningless game. The Hurricanes have caused problems for the Blueshirts and could be an issue in the playoffs.
  • CAPITALS OR PENGUINS?: Who would the Rangers rather play in the first round? Which team would give them more trouble?
  • PLAYOFF PLAYER TO WATCH: This is Igor Shesterkin’s time to shine. This is his first time in the playoffs for real and he has a chance to cement himself as an elite goaltender in the NHL. Artemi Panarin will be just as important to set the pace.
  • POST SPORTS+ QUESTIONS: Ron and Mollie answer questions from Post Sports+ members on the playoffs, the offseason and everything Rangers.

Larry Brooks Interview: The Post’s Hockey Hall of Fame columnist

  • HURTING GUYS: Were there players in Ron’s day that would go out and intentionally hurt other player?
  • HART TROPHY: Who is Larry voting for to win?
  • SEASON FINALE: Any reason to be locked into Friday’s matchup against the Capitals? Larry does not trust the Capitals and would play it safe and not play most guys, avoiding risking another Tom Wilson saga.
  • PLAYOFF MIKA: Zibanejad is essential for the Rangers this playoff run. Larry expects him to be a standout player in this run.
  • PLAYOFF PREVIEW: Would be a huge disappointment if the Rangers lost in the first round. Lots will ride on guys staying healthy, because if the Rangers lose a top-six player, they don’t have the depth to overcome it.
