After I picked myself up off the floor, I looked again at the photos of the Uighurs being welcomed in Bermuda (“Wheee-ghurs,” June 16).
Somehow, we are living in a strange parallel universe, where bad is good and stupid is smart.
Hey, President Obama: How many planes would I have to fly into how many buildings to earn a gratis, lifelong vacation like that?
Stay tuned for the Bermuda detainees’ speaking engagement coming to your town soon.

The “resettlement” of the Uighurs on Palau or in Bermuda is a bizarre joke.
A stunning paradise is not the place for these Gitmo detainees, no matter what the spokespeople for the Uighurs proclaim.
The closing of Gitmo is a debacle of stunning proportions by the Obama administration. Moreover, paying $200 million to Palau (or $9 million per Uighur) is grotesque. Aren’t we in a recession?
Obama’s announcement of this at the beginning of his term to appease the “international community” without a plan as to what would be done with the prisoners is typical of his “acting without thinking through of the consequences.”

I would like to be the recipient of a new residence in a tropical paradise courtesy of the federal government. Where do I apply for the same perks given to detainees?

Take a look at the current “Obama Nation”: Americans are losing their jobs, while the ex-Gitmo prisoners are getting cute pink bungalows in Bermuda.
