THE ISSUE: An MTA program that would allow riders to financially contribute to “green” projects.

***

The MTA asking for money for green projects is a joke (“MTA’s ‘Green’ Backs,” Jan. 9).

The first thing that should be eliminated is the taxpayer-paid cars organization officials ride around in.

Less cars on the road equals less emissions in the air.

Let them ride the transit system like the rest of us so that they can see how broken it is.

The MTA should stand for Masked Thieves Anonymous.

Does MTA CEO Elliot Sander think we are chumps when he discusses the “greening” of the agency?

Washington, DC, had recyclable paper Metro Cards in 1988.

Did Sander just find out?

Also, exactly how much money does it cost to create a dedicated bus lane, beyond some paint and street signs?

Police enforcement, which is nonexistent on current dedicated bus lanes, would pay for the paint and signs.

Why does Sander need more of our dough?
