I expect that crime will continue to rise since Commissioner Ray Kelly spends more time promoting himself as the counterterrorism czar than fighting crime (“Scared To Come to NY,” Jan. 26).

The 76 police cars that race around the city, lights flashing and sirens blaring, yet go nowhere, are supposed to scare off terrorists in a surge, but I am sure that they could be better deployed fighting crime.
