Becoming Greece
What Peggy Noonan says is correct: The American persona is in danger of changing for the worse (“Greece Fire,” PostScript, Oct. 10).
But, just like Greece, America is taking its lead from the government and government workers.
Nobody has a sweetheart deal like a government employee.
While the economy was crashing, and millions of private-sector jobs were being lost, government jobs actually increased.
Couple that with the fact that a government employee’s salary is almost double that of a private-sector job, and you have a recipe for disaster. I know what to call someone who wants something for nothing: a progressive.
