The Issue: Comedian Bill Maher’s purchase of a minority stake in the New York Mets.

Bill Maher is part-owner of the Mets (“Mr. Met,” June 4).
Now I’m never going to one of their games.

When Rush Limbaugh wanted to buy a piece of a football team, we heard an outcry from the liberal media. They called him a racist and used false statements attributed to him to force him out of the deal.
Now there is silence when it comes to Maher’s business with the Mets. I hope the Mets become as bankrupt as the left-wing media.

Now that Maher is part-owner, will there be no right- or center-fielders?

Does this mean Maher is changing sides and becoming a capitalist?

I’ve been a lifelong Mets fan. I recall going to games with my dad in the 1970s, when there were 5,000 fans at Shea.
Just when I was starting to put Bernie Madoff aside, the infamous Wilpons go to the Fresh Kills Landfill and, underneath the crud, find an investor named Maher.
It’s too bad he wasn’t vetted — unless Fred and Jeff Wilpon agree with his crude politics.
First Madoff and now Maher. When will Mets’ fans get a break?

After his bashing of the wealthy and the job producers in our country, Maher states that his buying into the Mets is a great investment.
