Amber Sutherland’s article, “Make Up Like Bandits” (Jan. 22), pretty much disgusts me, and I’m not offended easily.

Department stores are following a court order; Sutherland acknowledges an “honor system” and then proceeds to show precisely what passes for honor these days.

She writes proudly of pocketing extra beauty items, details spending her entire day in pursuit of said swag and justifies it by discussing similar actions going on all around her.

My contempt is outshone only by the seeming incompetence of her editor.

Sutherland shows us just what’s wrong with America: greed.

Instead of “honoring the system” of one product per person, she brags about going home with nine products worth $304.

Good luck, Mr. President.

Visiting five stores, Amber managed to get extra tickets; she also had friends stand in lines for her.

Her greed doesn’t exactly allow everyone who has been ripped off by these stores to get a free gift.

Does she understand that her behavior (much like the greedy, price-gouging stores), is not something for which she should feel proud?

How many other women are going to stand on line, only to find out that the store has run out of coupons or stock?

If her “I’ve got mine” attitude is a common point of view today, I feel sorry for our future generations.

You are not a very good role model, Sutherland. Don’t expose us to your selfish behavior.
