CLEANING UP CORRECTIONS
That’s two down — and more to go.
Two of the Correction Department figures who were exposed by The Post as having facilitated an outrageous behind-bars bar mitzvah party for a convicted scam artist’s son are now off the city payroll.
Rabbi Leib Glanz, the Tombs lockup chaplain who arranged for fraudster Tuvia Stern’s December jailhouse bash, resigned yesterday — apparently chased by an ongoing Department of Investigations probe.
The Post yesterday reported that the politically well-wired Glanz is the only city rabbinical chaplain who hadn’t been approved by a special Chaplaincy Committee, a step that’s required by a municipal labor contract.
His resignation followed the decision a day earlier by Correction Chief Peter Curcio, the department’s second-highest-ranking uniformed officer, to quit.
Curcio, The Post disclosed, overruled the objections of the Tombs’ deputy warden and OK’d the lavish soiree. Three other officials got a slap on the wrist for their roles.
The departures represent progress.
But it’s too bad they were allowed to jump — they should’ve been pushed a long time ago.
Now Mayor Mike needs to shine a bright spotlight on the Correction Department.
Who knew what, and when?
