After years of trying, Mayor Bill de Blasio finally has a tangible result from his drive to boost his national progressive profile: It helped him avoid extended jury duty.

De Blasio made it into the jury pool for just one case Wednesday, but was dismissed after telling the judge he’d be out of town Saturday to Monday. At the day’s end, he was excused entirely.

But the mayor’s trip is to New Orleans for the Netroots Nation conference, a lefty gathering that will also feature the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris.

De Blasio will deliver remarks to a cluster of progressives whom Netroots organizers tout as “online organizers, grassroots activists and independent media makers.”

He’ll certainly be among the like-minded — and with no risk of the embarrassment that some of his past efforts brought.

For example, his bid to play kingmaker during the 2016 presidential primaries was a flagrant bust: No candidate would even go to his Iowa “issues forum,” and he was later exposed as secretly begging for a top role with the Clinton campaign, even as he publicly pretended he might back Bernie Sanders.

By comparison, getting an early exit from jury duty is a huge success.
