Peter Brooks’ recent article, “Learning To Love Missile Defense,” correctly highlights the importance of missile defense (PostOpinion, July 1).

Our current administration needs to remember how much of a deterrent President Ronald Reagan’s missile-defense program was to the Russians and other countries.

Missile-defense measures should be mandatory. Washington needs to cut the useless pork projects and fund a missile-defense upgrade. The consequences of not protecting America would be disastrous.
