For 37 years, Sunnyside Community Services (SCS) has been providing quality programs and services to the residents of Queens and beyond (“Poor Rankings Sink Bids by Vito-Linked Group,” July 29).

What initially started as a small senior center is now a multiservice organization serving 18,000 individuals of all ages. Our senior center, the SCS Center for Active Older Adults, provides a range of services to thousands of members, helping them remain healthy and independent.

Our case-management program improves the quality of life for frail, low-income, homebound seniors.

While it is true that we were disqualified from the “innovative” senior-center category, SCS did qualify for the “neighborhood” center category during the same qualification process.
