The Issue: Democrats criticizing the United States’ capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro.

Those saying President Trump capturing Nicolás Maduro was unconstitutional are either being disingenuous or don’t know what is in the Constitution, nor do they understand the Monroe Doctrine and other historical precedents giving the president authority to do exactly what Trump did (“Don disses doubters,” Jan. 4).

The people who were chanting “no kings” are now defending a ruthless dictator who’s killed thousands of Americans by sending drugs into our country.

Democrats don’t like anything Trump does, no matter if it’s in our best interest or not.

Many Democrats are vehemently criticizing Maduro’s capture, a move authorized by Trump.

I have this hypothetical question: If Trump were president during the early 1940s and authorized and carried out a successful capture of Adolf Hitler, would the Democrats have been opposed to that as well?

Any person with common sense who’s not afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome will agree with removing the notorious narco-criminal from Venezuela and bringing him to America to answer in a court of law for his deliberate dumping of illegal drugs that harmed many young people in our country.

Proof of the president’s wise decision can be seen in the joyful reaction among the citizens of Venezuela now that Maduro has been removed from what was illicit power.

The Biden administration put a price tag of $25 million on Maduro’s capture but did nothing, yet when Trump captured him, Kamala Harris called the action unlawful and unwise. In this topsy-turvy world, words speak louder than actions.

Are there really people living in our great country protesting the capture of a dictator who took a beautiful, thriving, rich Venezuela and turned it into a poor communist regime with no rights for its residents? If these protesters were so enamored with Maduro, why are they living here?

It’s so easy to criticize our great president with absolutely no consequences in America. If you’d tried living in Venezuela and criticizing Maduro when he was in power, you’d have seen how fast you were thrown into prison.

Congratulations to Trump and his administration for doing the right thing in apprehending the narco-terrorist Nicolás Maduro.

Of course, if it was up to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her ilk, Trump would be under house arrest with an ankle bracelet.

It’s about time America started using its might to protect its citizens. I don’t care what Democrats are saying; Maduro was a narco-terrorist, and needed to be arrested.

The reaction to the United States’ capture of Maduro across the world has been immediate and diverse. Every freedom-loving nation has supported Trump and our military, while every communist nation, dictatorship and terrorist group have condemned Washington.

Venezuelans who lived under the cruel and brutish regime of Maduro celebrated the return of freedom to their homeland. Meanwhile, Democrats have joined the communists, dictators and terrorists in condemning the capture.

The worldwide media and governments are having a field day criticizing the arrest of Maduro. But the simple fact is that his capture will save not only thousands of American lives, but even more Venezuelan lives.

Bob Heier

It didn’t take long for Democrats to attack Trump for arresting Maduro. Whether the president is stopping illegal drugs or illegal immigrants from entering our country, the Democrats fall in line to hinder him every step of the way.
