“Why Sex Scandals Matter” (Kyle Smith, PostScript, June 12) is a great article, and he made a good point: “No, it’s not less important when it’s a Democrat.”

Why did it take over a week for top Democrats to call for Rep. Anthony Weiner to step down? How could they think of standing behind him for political reasons?

A Republican would have been out in a few days. This lewd behavior is totally unacceptable, and his credibility is down the tubes.
