Time for the Empire State Building to reassess its special-lights criteria.

Last week, Empire State Building Lighting Partners rejected the Catholic League’s request to honor Mother Teresa’s centenary on Aug. 26 by illuminating the tower in a three-tiered blue-white-blue display.

Calcutta’s famed “Angel of Mercy” was scarcely controversial: She did, after all, receive the Nobel Peace Prize and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Oddly, the Empire State Building was alit in red and yellow last fall to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Revolution — whose founder, Mao Zedong, helped murder some 77 million people.

So mass-murdering regimes get a moment in lights. A woman who comforted millions of afflicted around the world, not? Shameful.
