Doctors’ hours
The Post fails to include important information regarding work hours for residents at The Mount Sinai Hospital (“The Doctor Is ‘Out,’ ” Jan. 17).
Twice in 2008, the New York State Department of Health conducted random inspections at Mount Sinai, examining work schedules and policies and interviewing hospital residents. Both inspections found Mount Sinai to be in compliance with work rules for residents.
Mount Sinai adheres to and supports the work-hour rules for residents as issued by New York state and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
Our robust compliance program includes audits of resident work hours, training for residents and supervisors, periodic surveys and a hotline that allows residents to report violations anonymously.
Mount Sinai’s residency programs are consistently ranked among the best in the country, and there are strong systems in place to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
