Mayor Eric Adams needs a serious reality check if he believes Gov. Kathy Hochul has his back, after she’s repeatedly refused to honor his No. 1 ask: fixing the state “reforms” that hobble his anti-crime drive.

The Raise the Age law “is being used to victimize our youth,” Adams told state lawmakers in February, as older crooks “demand people under 18 take the fall for guns that are not truly theirs.”

During the regular legislative session, Hochul failed to get serious fixes to RTA or the no-bail law to let judges lock up the bad guys and keep them locked up. Worse, she added another “reform”: the Less Is More Act.

In July and August, Adams “forcefully” called on Gov. Hochul to call the Legislature back, warning that an “insane, broken system” allowed repeat offenders to keep getting arrested and then released without bail.

“‘Catch, release repeat’ cannot be a criminal-justice mantra,” he lamented when describing the repeat offenders responsible for the hike in serious crimes. “They’re repeated offenders and if we don’t stop that flow, we’re going to have a harder time of getting these numbers under control,” he said during a City Hall news conference.

These laws make New York “a laughingstock,” he thundered.

Yet the self-proclaimed “new face of the Democratic Party” has fallen in line behind Hochul, campaigning for her even as she repeatedly blames a “conspiracy” for fooling voters into thinking the laws need fixing.

Meanwhile, Lee Zeldin fully supports Adams’ crime-fighting agenda. Why give Hochul a pass? Does he think she’ll reward him with results if she wins? Hint: Hochul has also turned to Adams’ enemies in the far-left Working Families Party for support.

If the mayor’s help saves her, she’ll just slap him again — and Adams will be the laughingstock.
