The Issue: Ed Koch’s endorsement of City Council Speaker Chris Quinn, a “liberal with sanity,” for mayor.

***

Former Mayor Ed Koch uses the words “sane” and “liberal” in the same thought (“Why NYC Needs ‘A Liberal With Sanity,’” PostOpinion, Dec. 19).

Isn’t that an oxymoron? Isn’t the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over again, (over-tax, deficit-spend, undereducate and expand government regulations) while expecting different results?

A “sane liberal” would at least be a fiscal conservative.

In a city controlled by liberal and leftist Democrats, Koch believes we need another one. Hasn’t he been paying attention?

Koch claims that “Quinn stands up to Bloomberg.” But how much did she stand up to him when he ignored the will of the people and bought himself a third term?

Quinn is a radical leftist who hopes to get to control a city that is clearly dying. She will have the wealthy people of Manhattan and the welfare people of the outer boroughs to rule. Everyone else is moving out.

Just when I think Koch is starting to make sense, he goes and endorses City Council Speaker Chris Quinn.

A “liberal with sanity” does not allow other council members to break the bank with “member items” that mostly end up in the hands of friends and relatives of the council members.

“Liberal with sanity” is an impossibility. There’s no such thing, and Koch knows it.
