FAKE-ID FUMBLE
I believe Mariane Garvey’s endeavor to obtain a fake ID is somewhat misleading (“I Got A Fake ID In 5 Min Flat,” Dec. 29).
As a check-cashing storeowner in New Haven, I have seen many IDs just like Garvey’s; however, these ID’s are not accepted at my store or any other check-cashing store in the area as a form of identification.
Any business that would accept this as a valid form of ID is stupid, since right at the top of the card it says “Non-Government Photo ID.”
I would have been more impressed if Garvey were able to obtain a fake DMV-issued ID. She obtained an ID that many people already know is bogus.
