After reading this informative article packed with incisive historical and statistical data, it brings me to the irrevocable conclusion that the federal government, in its efforts to knock down Arizona Senate Bill 1070, is the real tortfeasor (“Border War,” Maureen Callahan, PostScript, Aug. 1).

By advancing its own arcane, idiosyncratic political agenda instead of honoring its sworn constitutional duty to enforce our laws, the federal government has chosen to drop their noose of demagoguery around the necks of the American public.
