“Flight of the Dudettes” (Maureen Callahan, PostScript, April 11) is a good article and accurate, right up until the “ground combat” subject came up. It’s a given that there are some women who are as physically competitive as men for some of these role in infantry, tanks and artillery. But you don’t set standards by the “exceptional” physical specimen; you set them by what the average is capable of. Lower physical fitness standards will lead to lower combat effectiveness, which leads to death.
