Golden intentions
As a Goldman Sachs employee who volunteered to work at a Salvation Army community center on Thanksgiving, I take exception to your mean-spirited attack (“Gobble Gobble Goldman,” Nov. 21).
My decision to volunteer had nothing to do with remaking the firm’s image, as you suggest.
It is the holidays, and some of us want to give to others. Further, you are wrong to report that employee reception to the initiative was “lukewarm.”
Originally, only 250 server positions were available. However, this was not enough to meet internal demand, and additional positions were filled enthusiastically.
L. Neville, Vice President, Goldman Sachs Manhattan
