The Issue: Whether AG Eric Holder should be held responsible for the Fast and Furious scandal.
***
I have no doubt that if Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives had captured some Mexican drug cartel agents, instead of losing an American Border Patrol agent, we would have seen Attorney General Eric Holder at the podium taking credit for the magnificent plan he had conceived and labored over for months and months (“Fast & Furious Lies,” PostOpinion, Michael A. Walsh, Dec. 5).

The latest canard coming forth from the Justice Department is that Fast and Furious was actually an operation conceived by the Bush administration.
Is anyone within the Obama administration worth listening to anymore?
Although it has become evident after the newest document dump that Holder’s justice was an amateurish attempt to damage the gun lobby and the Second Amendment, it also is now apparent that Holder had direct knowledge of the planning and implementation of this illegal operation and must step down.
Enabling 2,000 high-powered weapons to be transported across the border is the likely cause of border agent Brian Terry’s death.

A couple of years ago, Obama told the nation that his administration was working on gun control.
Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I find it curious that this was right about the same time his Justice Department let thousands of untrackable weapons loose into a virtual war zone in order to create enough outrage that he might be able to take guns away from Americans.
Shame on Obama and his team for thinking that the American public is that stupid.

Any pernicious political plot to undermine Second Amendment rights had to be hatched by higher-ups.
Holder may have insulated himself in puposeful ignorance of the operational details, but he is ultimately accountable for either the incompetence or the lawlessness that resulted in Terry’s death and that of 200 Mexican nationals.
Incompetence would be the preferable evil.
