I am a liberal who reads The Post every day for its variety of opinion, but I have to protest your acceptance of culture.

Your “Look of the Week” on Sunday, Aug. 23, featuring Sienna Miller, deserves comment. Her top, skirt, necklace, bag, sunglasses and shoes come to about $4,500, which comes close to what I net as a tenured professor in a month. Until we overcome the Marie Antoinette fantasy that a handbag is worth $1,550, the US will deserve to be deposited, like the Soviet Union before us, on the ash heap of history.

We could extend health care to all and enable our manufacturers to compete with the world if we stopped giving tax breaks and cultural privileges to celebrities and the rich.
