IT ADDS UP
Everyday Mathematics has become one of the nation’s most successful math programs over the last 20 years (“‘Fuzzy Math’ Isn’t Cuddly,” Michelle Malkin, PostOpinion, Nov. 28).
EM uses the most effective research-based methods from around the world to prepare children for the 21st century.
Children certainly still need to memorize multiplication tables and know how to calculate accurately with paper and pencil, but they also need to understand mathematical concepts, know how to use technology and be able to solve nonroutine problems.
The U.S. Department of Education has rated EM higher than any other elementary mathematics program. The data clearly show that it works, including in New York City, which has seen dramatic improvements in student achievement.
