Voters in New York’s 26th Congressional District would do well to give the nod to Republican Assemblywoman Jane Corwin in today’s three-way special election contest to fill the open Buffalo-area seat.

Corwin favors cutting spending and keeping taxes low.

On the other hand, Erie County Clerk Kathy Hochul, the Democratic and Working Families Party candidate, would be just another vote for more spending, taxes and bigger government.

The third candidate, self-professed “Tea Party” independent Jack Davis, has run for the seat three times as a Democrat, before trying to grab the GOP nomination earlier this year.

He’s a fraud and a spoiler.

Jane Corwin, a voice for reform, will join the House Republican majority as a check on the Obama White House.

She’s earned the support of the district’s voters.
