The Eliot Spitzer scandal demonstrated that the entire oversight function of the New York state political class is a joke (“State Senate Goes Home, Leadership in Flux,” June 19).

But the New York state Senate circus has demonstrated how to get the Democratic political machine to proceed on an investigation: Have the subject of the investigation become Republican.

It’s funny how the wheels of justice have finally started churning.
