THE ISSUE: A bill to allow dual criminal charges for harming a pregnant woman and her fetus.

I would like to applaud Michael Benjamin for his article “Protecting Abortion — But Not Women” (Post-
Opinion, July 19).
I agree that Gov. Cuomo should sign the Stillbirth Certificate bill into law and that he will hopefully also be able to sign the Unborn Victims of Violence Act.
All life needs to be protected. If a woman who is carrying a child is killed, the one responsible should be charged with two murders, not just one.

Benjamin feigns outrage that people who kill an unborn child are only charged with a “minor” felony.
Where is his outrage when a doctor, who is supposed to do no harm, murders an unborn child?
Anyone who harms an unborn child should be charged with murder. I don’t agree with exempting a doctor.
If it’s murder for one person, it’s murder for all people.

Benjamin’s column on abortion is both interesting and informative.
Supporters of legal abortion have, over
the past four decades, refused to appreciate the overwhelming evidence that clearly establishes that any unborn child is scientifically human from conception.
All the child further needs is nourishment and protection for the nine months prior to birth.
Physicians should never deny the humanity of an unborn child from conception, since to do so would be “a curious avoidance of scientific fact.”
