The Issue: Ukrainian President Zelensky’s plea to Congress for greater help in the war against Russia.
Ukranian leader Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech was the most inspiring address I have heard from Capitol Hill in my 28 years of life as a proud American (“Congress moved by fight for freedom,” Dec. 22).
With a combination of brilliant timing that only a comedian can muster, historic honesty of a world-class statesman and the bravery of a true warrior, Zelensky spoke of triumph over tyranny and victory in the new year.
He reminds us that the United States and Ukraine must continue to stand at our posts against division and dictatorship. But even more, his words are proof that only in the darkness will humankind be directed towards our united democratic destiny.
Zelensky has not lost his energy in the face of evil, and neither shall America.

Ukraine received over $67 billion in taxpayer money with no accountability. NATO and the EU are doing little to nothing in providing support to Ukraine.
President Biden gives our tactical weapons to Ukraine, reducing our military assets, just like he used our strategic oil reserves in an attempt to reduce gas prices.

It is no surprise that Zelensky was afforded such intense protection for his trip to the United States. What was surprising was how many Republican politicians remained seated when he walked in to address Congress.
Do these people support Russian President Vladimir Putin? Do they approve of mass murder, rape and the torture of military personnel and civilians?
Zelensky and the entire Ukrainian nation are the bravest men, women and children for standing up to such naked aggression from a murderous gangster. There can be only one winner, and he must be on the side of honor, decency and the rule of international law.
Would these Republicans prefer anarchy and World War III? Their disgraceful act perhaps shows their true colors, which most certainly means they should not be in political power.

Biden now is going to give Zelensky a Patriot missile battery to help in the war.
What Ukrainians are going through is a horror. This should never have happened. However, besides the money we are giving Ukraine, we are supplying them with arms. Biden is slowly moving us closer and closer to getting us more involved in the war.
What’s Biden’s next step? This is going to keep snowballing, and before we know it, American troops might be on their way over.
We’ve been through this several times, from Vietnam to Afghanistan. The last thing I want to see is American GIs fighting and getting killed on foreign soil again, and it might come to that.

Zelensky’s address to a joint session of Congress was excellent, and covered many critical points.
He spoke about how he and the Ukrainian people were grateful for our help in the fight against Russia and how both of our countries share a common bond, which is the desire to live in peace and freedom from tyranny.
Hopefully, victory will be in Ukraine’s not-too-distant future, but the road ahead continues to look very tough.
It is a good thing that included in the newest aid package will also be Patriot missiles, which will greatly help the Ukrainian military.

I was glad that Biden met with Zelensky at the White House before the latter gave his speech to Congress. However, as far as I’m concerned, it was just another photo op with regards to Biden.
Biden obfuscated and was disingenuous to a fault. He said that America will stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes. He somehow failed to mention, right before the war started, that he was OK with a “minor incursion” by Russia.
He also said that America will protect Ukraine’s sovereignty. How about America’s sovereignty? Another day, another failure.
