The Issue: The rash of attacks by mobs on retail outlets in San Francisco and other US cities.

The photos and stories in The Post of the spreading “smash and grab” robberies of highend stores in San Francisco and other bail-reform cities, disgusting but not surprising, should get the attention of the mayors of those cities (“Smash and Grab Spreading,” Nov. 27).

The animals committing these crimes are selling the stolen goods to their friends and neighbors, who treat them like heroes, and encourage them to go out and do it again.

The police, who are handicapped by the laws in these sanctuary cities, are somewhat reluctant to make arrests. Why even try? They’ll likely see the same gang of thieves at the next crime scene.

Smash and grab thuggery is soaring across America, not just in California. Laws are unenforced. Politicians cower before the mobs running amok or make lame excuses for them. God forbid if some of these homegrown terrorists get their heads cracked by police. The media lapdogs would scream police brutality or racism. Businesses shut down and workers lose their jobs. The knuckleheaded goons wreaking havoc never seem to be identified by the liberal news outlets. It doesn’t fit their agenda.

Does it really surprise anyone that progressive liberal San Francisco is plagued with lawless gangs? Liberal prosecutors and judges who favor criminal rights along with so-called bail reform create a perfect storm for criminals. These conditions will eventually lead to citizens taking up arms to protect themselves and their property.

There is one action that could solve this problem — enforcement of law! Unfortunately, in the areas where these crimes are happening you have un-prosecutors. Congress should pass a law making smash-and-grab a federal crime. This crime would be punishable by a mandatory sentence of two years in a federal prison with no option of parole.

Most of America’s largest cities are and have been overseen by Democrats, and Democratic voters have watched their cities decay, their schools fail and crime rates escalate. Stupidity thrives where Dems rule.

The latest iteration of urban lawlessness is the notion that what is exhibited in stores is yours for the taking, especially if you are poor.

Why pay when you can steal, not be arrested and not be prosecuted? In a nation of laws, this has to be the dumbest, most cowardly practice ever contrived; everyone loses but the robbers, and none are named Bonnie or Clyde.

America is seeing an erosion of law and order. Criminals and gangs feel emboldened to break the law knowing the legal system does not have enough resources to stop their activity.

There are a number of remedies for reducing crime. Most important is to elect political leaders who will put in place strong laws and provide the resources to ensure the laws are being enforced. As with many problems, the solution starts at the top.

Those folks relocating items from local stores are just reacting to the hardships of an economy being driven into the ground by Democrats. Until we get new leadership that stops looking for ways to make everything more expensive, good folks will need to keep relocating essential items to care for their families, friends and community.
