The Issue: Harlem residents’ anger over a spike in neighborhood crimes under DA Alvin Bragg.

For God’s sake, is there anyone in charge in this city or state (“Harlemites’ Fear & Loathing,” Feb. 8)?

I know Mayor Adams, Gov. Hochul and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg are having nice dinners while blood is flowing, and our fellow residents are being murdered, shot, stabbed and pushed into trains.

The Harlem crime surge is tragic, along with the overall rise in violent crimes throughout New York City.

But it’s ironic for Harlem residents to act surprised. Bragg won with over 83 percent of the vote citywide. He did not hide what he was going to do if elected.

As with other large cities across the country, residents are starting to realize that elections have consequences, and that voting for woke prosecutors who aren’t interested in actually prosecuting criminals might not be the best idea.

We’ll see if the community’s collective angst translates into votes for a more conventional district attorney next time around, but I’m not holding my breath.

We all understand the concern and fear not just in Harlem but throughout New York City.

Ben Franklin strenuously represented and fought for the rights of Pennsylvanians oppressed by the British empire. Some might say we, as a nation, are enduring similar government impositions in our lives today.

Franklin wrote that one of the unconscionable parliamentary attempts to quell the colonists’ independent thinking was to release and ship the “rogues and villains” from the prisons in England and Scotland to the colonial settlements.

What have we done to deserve such treatment from those elected to protect us?

We all can see crime in New York City is out of control.

Some eight years of Mayor Bill de Blasio and his poor support for police and his insane, ultra-liberal progressive agenda have allowed the criminals and thugs to gain control of our city.

Now it is time to end the insanity. We must pressure Adams and Hochul to stand united against DA Bragg and progressives like him, and their pro-criminal policies.

It’s time we arrest and prosecute everyone who commits crimes. No more picking and choosing whom we prosecute.

The Issue: Backlash against Adele for saying she loved “being a woman” while receiving a Brit Award.

I applaud Maureen Callahan’s article about female singer Adele’s push-back on gender-neutral wokeism (“She’s a Woman,” Feb. 10). The lunacy has gone too far.

As a former 9/11 responder, I volunteered as a museum tour guide for a number of years at New York’s 9/11 Memorial.

I believed it was important to tell girls and young women that on that terrible day, many females were just as heroic as the men and also gave their lives for others.

They were there for the rescue and recovery, exposing themselves to the same dangers as the men. Women have every right to be proud of and recognized for their achievements.

Callahan is right, as usual. Adele, who was “canceled” in 2019 for shedding 100 pounds, is now being Twitter-mobbed for proudly affirming her womanhood.

If the Grammys nix “Best Male” and “Best Female” in favor of “Best Performer,” won’t that cut the major awards by half?
