The Issue: Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ suborbital trip to the edge of space in a reusable rocket.

So Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Sen. Bernie Sanders and other like-minded legislators are upset at Jeff Bezos for taking his space trip (“Behind the Left’s Bezos-Hate,” Editorial, July 22).

I applaud Bezos’ pioneering spirit. He has accomplished more in his life than the aforementioned “legislators” could ever hope to achieve.

I’d like to remind these political hacks that he paid for the trip with his own money. He earned that money from starting his own company, taking risks and working hard — unfamiliar territory to Bernie & Co.

I’d also like to remind the DC crowd that they make the tax laws. If they feel that Bezos isn’t paying his fair share, then they should change the tax code.

Maybe instead of spending countless hours covering billionaires (who do their best to avoid paying federal taxes) sending themselves to space, the media should be focusing on people who are actually helping others.

Instead of spending millions to go to space, those billionaires should be investing in charities.

Now that Bezos and Richard Branson have finished their expensive publicity stunts, would someone please tell them they did not go into space? They merely went up high.

For them to have gone into space, they would have had to pass through the extremely dangerous re-entry phase where their aircrafts would have needed to be at the perfect angle to avoid burning up. They did not go into outer space.

It is wonderful to think about space travel — but first, clean this planet of ours and remove all of the space junk that is flying around and falling to Earth.

Ironic that Bezos’ buddies in the Democratic Party are coming for him.

He is another great example of the do-as-I-say crowd, and I’m glad to see the likes of Sanders and Sen. Elizabeth Warren attacking him for not paying his fair share to the black hole that is government spending.

Just like the rest of the limousine liberals, he won’t know what hit him when the beast he helped create turns on him.

The Issue: The Norwegian women’s handball team’s choice to wear shorts instead of bikini bottoms.

Bravo to Norway’s women’s beach handball team for choosing to wear shorts instead of suffering embarrassment by wearing the “regulation” bikini bottoms (“Shorts & Sweet,” July 21).

Bravo to the Norwegian Handball Federation for supporting these great athletes and paying the fine for their players.

Wake up, European Handball Federation, and change your rules. Show some respect to women and permit them to dress modestly and decently instead of sexually harassing and degrading them by trying to force them to wear obviously inappropriate attire.

In the annals of antiquated sexist sports rules, the European Handball Federation undoubtedly stands tall.

The EHF’s knee-jerk and discriminatory action against the Norwegian women’s handball team for wearing shorts instead of bikini bottoms is senselessly insensitive.

Ironically, the same standards do not apply to the men’s category.

Kudos to the Norwegian women’s handball team for standing up against these biased rules.
