The Issue: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s call to build fewer jails and more hospitals to address crime.
Being childishly naïve is one thing, but being flat-out ignorant of reality is entirely different (“Build hosps, not jails, to cut crime: Ocasio,” June 5).
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is right about building more hospitals — we’re going to need them. We will need a lot more beds to care for the victims of violent crime that AOC and the other “social justice” morons help create with their ridiculous policies and beliefs.
It’s time for the adults to resume governing.

Ocasio-Cortez came out with another beauty just the other day. Her message was: Do not build jails.
Of course, with so much violence and crime in New York City, she doesn’t realize that after a murderer or a rapist is caught, the initial step is to confine the person, not to attempt rehabilitation immediately after the culprit is handcuffed.
Public safety is first and foremost, and treating these thugs with care and education isn’t going to go well.
What she intends to accomplish with her erroneous rhetoric is beyond me. Jail is the punishment for the crime.

Ocasio-Cortez’s plan to replace jails with hospitals will result in hospitals filled with victims of violent crime, perpetrated by thugs who belong in the jails she doesn’t want built.
Her social-justice campaign will hurt people in her Bronx/Queens district, who should vote her out of office when she runs for reelection in 2022.

This is possibly the stupidest thing Ocasio-Cortez has ever said. She claims cutting mental-health funds causes violent crime. But Thrive got $1.5 billion and did nothing.
Community groups are a complete scam and only help organizers get rich off taxpayer dollars.
And the height of hypocrisy is that she has private security. She needs to give that up and start taking public transportation alone like the rest of us are forced to do.

The Issue: A psychiatrist who talked about having thoughts of shooting white people during a Yale event.
Psychiatrist Aruna Khilanani has fantasies of shooting and killing any white person who gets in her way (“Yale talk on ‘shooting’ a white person,” June 5).
She also stated that she would have a bounce in her step as she walked away after committing murder. She said white people make her blood boil and they are out of their minds and have been for a long time.
Really? This from a woman who is supposed to be there to help people with mental conditions.
Well, “doctor,” my prescription for you is to go see someone about your anger and homicidal thoughts before you act on them.

I was appalled by the racist rant of Khilanani, stating her fantasy of “unloading a revolver into the head of any white person” who got in her way.
She is disgusting, and the fact that she was allowed to spew these vitriolic and hateful rants shows what is wrong with this country.
She should be stripped of her license and barred from ever addressing an audience again in any forum.
