The Issue: Stars’ decision to boycott the Golden Globes over #MeToo and a lack of diversity.

Now these liberal Hollywood stars are against the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (“Hollywoke,” May 11).

Tom Cruise gave back his three Golden Globe Awards, but willingly accepted them years ago. Why didn’t these privileged stars reject them when they were first awarded?

There’s only one answer for that — they don’t care, but are just going along with the woke culture.

Why don’t all the Oscar winners who won in all the years African Americans weren’t even nominated give back their awards? Because they’re all full of it.

Let me see if I understand this: A group of actors whose handlers told them to return some meaningless awards will boycott an event because it has now been decided it is not diverse enough.

But will they be returning the money they were paid while taking advantage of the publicity from these promoted events?

Highly unlikely — but at least they will have something to talk about at the next dinner party as they compliment each other about how “woke” they are.

It finally happened: The self-absorbed Hollywood elite have canceled themselves. This was, of course, the inevitable consequence of the racial insanity that grips the Wokerati.

There are probably about 11 people who will miss the Golden Globes. Let us hope that the pain felt by Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and Tom Cruise for the lack of diversity in Hollywood will lead to the cancellation of the Oscars and the Emmys, too.

In her column “H’wood laughably late to get a clue,” Maureen Callahan refers to Scarlett Johansson as “tone-deaf as ever” because of Johansson’s suggestion that the Golden Globes be canceled, since the likes of Harvey Weinstein legitimized the awards. In fact, Johansson very bravely faced up to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel after she appeared in a commercial for SodaStream, an Israeli company based in the West Bank and actually one of the largest employers of Palestinian workers.

Despite the fanaticism of this movement, which has worked its way into many universities without allowing any opposition speech, Johansson told BDS where it could go and divest itself.

The Golden Globes being pressured to cave is the final nail in the coffin for artistic integrity. The SAG and Oscar awards already crumbled. Awards should be given on merit. Tom Cruise’s grandstanding on the issue has nothing to do with integrity, but cowardly acquiescence to a cult that threatens to destroy anyone who doesn’t play along.

The Issue: Michael Goodwin’s column on the disastrous situation the city finds itself in.

Michael Goodwin’s latest on the crisis of New York City again emphasizes the state of absolute calamity the city is in (“All NYers must shout: Enough!” May 12).

The city has devolved into a dangerously violent place, one where virtually every quality-of-life aspect has been almost entirely diminished.

Robert DiNardo

Goodwin gets it. Empowering criminality while vilifying law enforcement is a clear recipe for rampant violence.

Our only hope now is that the next mayor gets it.
