The Issue: The trial of Kyle Rittenhouse, who shot three people during the protests in Kenosha last year.

The tragic events that occurred in Kenosha involving Kyle Rittenhouse last summer vividly exemplify the harsh reality of a divided America (“Clear case of self-defense,” Miranda Devine, Nov. 11).

The rioters were intent on destroying business properties as “justice” for the shooting of Jacob Blake, while an idealistic teen who was intent on helping protect those same businesses is now deemed a white supremacist and murderer for defending himself amidst the maelstrom.

This young man should be acquitted and exonerated. Enough is enough.

Rittenhouse is a teenaged, wanna-be Rambo who strode around a troubled city with a loaded AR-15.

What did that trigger-happy, terrified crybaby think was going to happen when he stalked citizens with a weapon? I have no sympathy as he faces what he deserves: a life in prison.

My sympathies go to those who gave their lives and limbs to tackle that dumb creep as he threatened townsfolk exercising their First Amendment rights.

The right to defend yourself against imminent violence from another is a basic tenet of US law.

Clearly, the actions of Rittenhouse on that notorious Kenosha night were in response to just such threats.

Would that we all could acquit ourselves with this young man’s grace under pressure, as seen in both the video evidence and in his articulate testimony.

This is without doubt a politically motivated prosecution. He should never have been charged with a crime.

Kudos to Judge Bruce Schroeder, who is following the law in the Kyle Rittenhouse murder trial (“Judge’s own ‘objections,’ ” Nov. 11)

Shame on Assistant District Attorney Thomas Binger for playing games with the law. I am surprised that Judge Schroeder did not hold Binger in contempt.

Maybe a refresher course of our shared Judeo-Christian values would be helpful here. Please refer to Psalms 106:3 — “Fortunate are those who preserve justice, that do righteousness at all times.”

If only the law-enforcement officers had been doing their jobs, instead of being told to stand down, we would not need citizens to defend others and do police jobs.

As to the media portrayal of this youth — people should be listening to the live feed from the court.

There are those threatening the judicial system if they don’t get their verdict, facts be damned.

We may be witnessing more so-called peaceful protests that only seem to be a concern when elected officials in Washington, DC, feel uncomfortable.

The prosecuting attorney in the Rittenhouse case, Thomas Binger, does not deserve a license to practice law.

Rittenhouse was exercising his constitutional right, granted by the Second Amendment.

If he had not killed the two people who were trying to kill him, he would not currently be defending himself in a court of law. Next case.

Rittenhouse had every right to protect himself during the riots in Kenosha. He was there to protect a community. The America-hating Antifa was there to burn the town down.

The spineless prosecutor yielded to the angry crowd who demanded Rittenhouse be charged.
