Hand it to ex-Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who just pulled off the most interesting 2020 endorsement to date: Judge Judy.

The Honorable Judith Sheindlin will even hit the road for Bloomy, as she announced in a 30-second ad released Monday. “Mike Bloomberg has done amazing things and will be a truly great president,” said one of the nation’s most popular and respected TV personalities. “No one comes close to Mike Bloomberg’s executive achievement, government experience, and impactful philanthropy. His steady leadership will unite our country and bring us through these very challenging times.”

Sure, her “real-world” experience was as a family court judge, and the “cases” she hears on her show rarely touch on major criminal justice issues.

But her hard common sense and rational candor attract 10 million viewers a day — and it’s a good chance that includes a good number of toss-up voters.

Mayor Mike’s big spending already has him rising in the polls, and he’s building solid campaign infrastructure in states that vote after the first four primaries. The other Democratic candidates are deeply worried that he could score big on Super Tuesday and afterward — and Judge Judy just upped those odds.

And if he manages to win the nomination, she’ll be an ever-bigger asset, allowing Bloomberg to meet President Trump’s reality-TV fire with reality-TV fire — and prove that he, too, is not just another regular politician.
