As I crossed the George Washington Bridge the other night, I saw the pink lights strung along the cables (“Bridge Tribute to Rutgers Bully Victim,” Oct. 17).

I was nearly moved to tears. Considering what happened on this very spot to Rutgers student Tyler Clementi, the wash of color seemed like a memorial to all the gay people who have ever been harmed by bullying and homophobic hate.
